Buy your RISC insurance
New Mexico requires every active broker to carry errors and omissions insurance. It protects you if a client ever claims you made a mistake. RISC is the group plan the New Mexico Real Estate Commission set up for brokers, and it is the one we like our realtors to buy.
Go to the RISC website and choose New Mexico.
Enroll as an individual licensee and pay online.
Save the certificate they email you. You will upload it in your dashboard later.
The state reviews it and then shows your license as active under Patino Real Estate. When that happens you will have your license number, and you can do step 4.

Once you are licensed, ask for your dashboard
The dashboard is where your leads, your website, your marketing and your deals live. We can only open it once the state shows your license active under Patino Real Estate. When you have your license number, fill this out and Manny sets it up.
This becomes your dashboard login.
Manny texts your sign-in link to this number.
Not issued yet? Come back to this page when the state sends it. Your checkmarks will still be here.
By sending this you agree that Patino Real Estate may call, text and email you about joining the brokerage.
🎉
Got it. You are in line.
Manny approves your dashboard and sends your sign-in link by text and email. Tap the link, pick a password, and the dashboard walks you through the rest.

Inside your dashboard: three things before it opens
The first time you sign in, the dashboard walks you through these. About fifteen minutes total.
Sign your contractor agreement. Manny has already signed it. You read it and sign with your finger. You need your license number for this one.
Read the office policy manual and tap I agree.
Send your W-9 so the brokerage can pay you.

Then take your time on the rest
None of this holds you up. Your dashboard keeps the list and checks things off as you go.
Your headshot. No photographer needed. Stand facing a window, plain wall behind you, and have someone take the picture with an iPhone in Portrait mode. Then upload it to ChatGPT and ask it to turn it into a professional real estate headshot without changing your face.
Your bio. A few sentences about who you are and who you like to help.
Your insurance certificate. Upload the one RISC emailed you.
Your local REALTOR association and the MLS. This is how you get access to show and list homes. In Las Cruces that is the Las Cruces Association of REALTORS.
Your lockbox key. It comes through the association.
Your email signature. Patino Real Estate logo and the office number, (575) 520-7604.
The 30 hour new broker course. New Mexico requires it in your first year.
